If you use any of Microsoft Online Services such as Hosted Email or Online SharePoint the following section will help you with the basics.

Sometimes people refer to these services at Business Productivity Online Standard Suite or BPOS for short, not the most original name but that’s Microsoft for you!

User Account Management

Doesn’t matter which online service you use from Microsoft you will need to manage your user account. With Microsoft online services you need to change your password every three months for security reasons. It’s bit of a pain but I understand why they enforce this policy.

If you have the desktop client installed on you computer you will be reminded 14 days before it expires, every time you logon. Quite often users put off changing the password and then get locked out.

Make sure you change the password before it expires!

My Company Portal

You can change your password, unlock your account and download the desktop client from the Company Portal website.

Desktop Client

The desktop client is a great tool, download it, sign in and then the software will automatically configure your applications, in most cases this is Microsoft Outlook.

Hosted Exchange

The most popular product from Microsoft Online Services is Hosted Exchange which most people know it as Outlook and Email.

iPhone

To setup your iPhone with Hosted Exchange please take a look at the following page.

Webmail

You can access your email, contacts and calendars from any web browser from Outlook Web Access. This will give you cut down version of Outlook in your web browser.

Outlook

The best way to use Hosted Exchange is with Microsoft Outlook. The easiest way to setup Outlook is using the desktop client.

1 ) Download Desktop Client (See above)
2 ) Install the Desktop Client
3 ) Sign in with your full email address and password provided
4 ) The client should then detect that your Outlook hasn’t been configured with your mailbox
5 ) Tick only “Microsoft Office Outlook”
6 ) Click “Configure Applications”
7 ) After a couple of minutes Outlook should be setup
8 ) Now click on Outlook and you will be connected to your mailbox
