ADSL Filter

This device splits your telephone line into voice and internet. If you have ADSL broadband then this device needs to be plugged into the wall first.

Network Cable (RJ45 Ethernet)

This important cable connects your computer to the local network which in turn is plugged into the internet.

Router

Here comes the technical definition "A router bridges two networks together". Which for most businesses means your internal network and the internet. Sometimes we might refer to it as your internet box and in some cases it also provides the wireless network.

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

Basically its a car battery that provides 20 minutes of power to your server during black outs. This allows your server to shutdown gracefully and also protects against power spikes. These devices are essential for servers!
